Hello sweet friend!
Happy summer! Recently it has been lovely and warm, the sun is glowing bright, the trees are beautiful green, butterflies are flying around, flowers are blooming, and a delightful cool spell has come for the past few days.
June has been a busy month. I have been Bible studying and podcasting (we have officially reached 25 countries in one month and that is only from the goodness of God). I FINISHED writing my children’s book at over 80k words. This is the longest it's taken me to write a book but I love it so much and I am so thankful God gave me this story to write! I’m taking a mini break from writing before jumping into edits and outlining book 2. I re-read one of my favorite books. Started Instagram again and have been posting there all month (I still haven’t decided if I am going to be staying on IG but for now you can find me there posting faith content). Did a parasite cleanse. Wore summery dresses. My mom planted roses in honor of little June. I am starting to pull back from listening to secular music to find Christian artists & songs (if you have any recommendations please let me know)! Learned about cycle syncing which has been amazing as a girlie who always forgets that each month that she gets depressed before starting. Got to chat on the phone with my bestie about what God is doing in our lives which was so encouraging. And all around had a rather lovely month.
I have found a lot of breakthroughs recently. Breakthrough in my health, in my writing, and specifically in regards to what my calling is. I want to share with you what led me to finding out my calling in hopes it might encourage you and give you an idea of what you can be praying for and doing in your own life to find this answer.
If you have a prayer request, please message me! I’d love to pray for you!
LORD what do you want me to do with my life?
At some point in our lives we will probably ask the question, “What should I do with my life?”
Our whole lives seem to hang on this one precarious question.
With so many possibilities it can feel rather impossible to answer. What do I want to do with my life? What should I do with my life? What if I make the wrong choice? How do I even know what to do? The questioning can seem endless. Most of us will have this question imposed on us in our teen years especially once we graduate and are heading into our twenties where you are seemingly required to know exactly what you are going to do for the rest of your life.
To answer this question, I have three pieces of advice.
1. Seek
Maybe a better question than “what am I supposed to do with my life?” is knowing who you are. What is your identity?
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
—Psalm 139:13-14
Who are you? You are made by God. You are a child of God, loved by God. This is your identity. This is who you are! Be secure in this truth.
I encourage you to dig deep into God’s word. Get to know His voice and what He says. Learn about who God is and His character.
2. Obey
Did you know that Jesus actually tells us what ALL Christians are called to do?
After Jesus rose again, he gave this commission to the believers:
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
—Matthew 28:18-20
We all have this call—this commission on our lives—to tell the nations about Jesus and make disciples (a.k.a. Believers in Jesus grounded in the Bible and their saving faith in the LORD ready to disciple and train up others).
This is what our purpose is. This is what Jesus has actually told us to do. Will you obey Him and do as He says?
3. Ask
The final piece of advice I have for you is to pray, “God what do You want me to do with the life You have given me? What did you make me for?”
You are fearfully and wonderfully made (psalm 139:14). You were made on purpose with a purpose by God. He made you. He knows you. He loves you. He has a plan for you and your life. He has equipped you with specific gifts.
I encourage you to pray for God to give you clarity and answers on what He made you for. What does He want you to do with your life that He has given you?
No longer is it about you finding what you want or should do. Now it’s about finding out what God designed you for!
Guess what? You can start walking in your calling right now! All of us are called to tell the nations about Jesus and make disciples. You can do this right now! You can walk in your calling today!
I believe if you follow after Jesus, ask for His will and not your own, and can be obedient to what God has called you to (tell others about Jesus and make disciples) and are faithful in this that He will answer you with the specifics of what He has made you to do.
From my life
I believe this because this is what God has done for me. I’ve been praying this prayer, studying the Bible, getting to know God’s character for years but specifically for the past few months this has been my focus. This whole year I believe God has been preparing me and training me up. I didn’t know why but I knew He was preparing me.
Then I started the podcast with the intention of sharing about Jesus, what God is doing in my life, and reading the Bible together as a community of believers.
Last week there was this moment of clarity that I believe came from the LORD. In a moment all these pieces came together and I now know what I’m supposed to do with my life—what God has made me for.
It was so exciting! This has been a prayer of mine for so long! Really the answer was there all along. It wasn’t a surprise. It feels perfectly right. Now that I know these things I want to run after it with the LORD and be praying over these things. I still don’t know everything. Just because I have clarity doesn’t mean I now instantly have these things. Now I know what to be praying specifically for. Now I know what to pursue and what to say no to.
I wanted to share this with you and encourage you to follow after God. He has a plan and a purpose for you! Seek Him, obey Him, and ask Him!
In The Library
The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis
★★★★★
Finished The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis for the second time. It was SO GOOD! I completely forgot the ending (it’s been 6 years since I last picked up this book) and it was so much better than I imagined! I highly highly recommend reading.
The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
Currently reading…
I’m currently reading this book and am really enjoying it so far! I think it is so interesting how there are secret messages going out in the radio and television that are causing people to be stressed and worried and causing the great Emergency. Kinda sounds like our world, lol.
On The Podcast
The Other World Podcast has been out in the world for a month! It has been amazing to see God bless this podcast. It has reached 25 countries and has over 600 listens in this first month which I was not expecting. I have had such encouraging messages from lovely listeners. I am so thankful for all of you who have listened and for God putting this on my heart and for blessing this behind what I could have imagined.
We are going to be doing a Bible study series on the book of Ephesians together on the podcast! I would love to read the Bible with you! I hope you enjoy listening!
I hope you are all having a wonderful day! I’ll see you again soon in the next letter!
Yours Truly,
Moriyah
For Christian music, I have started listening to Leanna Crawford esp her song "Psalm 23"
I've also listened to Sarah Sparks' Into the Lantern Waste album, which is based on Narnia and that's pretty good. I haven't listened much to her other stuff yet.
